Why not hire one of our fantastic VW Campervans from Heathrow and take a Southern England Christmas outing in one. Even in winter our south coast is a magical area, here are just a few ideas on places where to visit whilst hiring one of our campervans.
Bournemouth: Gardens of Light brings Christmas light and fun to Bournemouth Gardens from November to early January. Twinkling lights and beautiful alpine stores are the perfect backdrop for festive winter shopping, and ice skating adds a little adventure to the mix!
Exciting interactive light pods weave through the historic gardens, with sound and even a time machine to enthral and amuse the whole family. There is a beautiful open-air ice-rink, bringing a frosty and magical winter feeling to the Gardens, and you can also visit Santa is in his grotto.
Brighton: Lots of Christmas activities happening in this vibrant city like the unique etsy Christmas markets that sell unique handmade Christmas items and have stalls selling food and drink to get you in the festive spirit. Whilst in Brighton why not take a trip to the chocolate shop made famous by its own tv show Choccywoccydohdah this little bespoke shop has lots of Christmas chocolates to sample whist walking around.
Windsor: If you’ve taken the kids with you on your campervan trip then why not treat them and take them to Legoland they have their Christmas Bricktacular taking place every weekend in December where they have an Elf’s workshop, Mrs Claus’s toy shop and also they can visit Father Christmas in his wonderfully decorated grotto. Whilst in Windsor if you want a bit of grown up time they have lots of activities going on at Windsor Castle.
Dartford: If its Christmas shopping you want to do then whilst your around the south of England why not visit Lakeside shopping centre which is located next to the Dartford crossing. This is the biggest shopping centre in Britain and has shops galore even for the fussiest of people.
London: If you want to shop in the centre of the capital city then leave your campervan on site and take the tube, at least this way you can have a festive drink whilst sampling all the wonderful Christmas stalls they have in the city. Why not visit the London eye or the ice rinks in Broadgate or at Canary Wharf these are always a big hit with adults and kids alike.
The big event of the year in London Is the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland fair rides and food and drink stalls fill the huge park. Entry in to the park is free so you can just have a walk around and sample the Christmas cheer but if you want to be a bit more involved then the attractions are by ticket only.
Hever Castle: Are you a bit of a history fan then why not visit this wonderful castle in Kent the home of Anne Boleyn. Between November 30th and December 16th they have Christmas trails taking place which are great for keeping the kids entertained. This fabulous castle has two mazes and children’s adventure playgrounds so make sure they wrap up warm and let them blow the cobwebs off.
